Created over a very worn vintage lithograph of the iconic Last Supper with a hand-crafted / folk art double frame. The image is that of R. Tesar, painted in 1875. None of this was known to me at the time I painted the overlay. However, there are many editions of the source image that can be found around the secondary market online. Some demanding some very high prices!
My addition of Slipknot, one of my favorite bands, was easier said than done. I had to repeat one member to make things work according to the headcount. So naturally, that's Corey.
It was important to me to include the deceased members Paul Gray and Joey Jordinson. Both are sorely missed and Joey was truly one of a kind in talent and ability. I also included Eloy and Jay on the right interacting to each other. I'm a fan of both of them for reasons.
The outer frame is fragile, like an eggshell. You can see where it is cracking away on the top right. The more it cracks, the more I love it. It's a great metaphor to this band.
